As reported by the Philippine National News Agency, the House of Congress has approved the Right to Adequate Food Bill on its Third Reading.
The bill recognizes that every person has a right to be free from hunger. Every person suffering from hunger or undernutrition, or at risk of suffering from hunger or undernutrition is entitled to a minimum amount of food according to one’s age, sex, health status, and occupation.
As per Philippine law, the bill has to pass three readings in Congress before it goes to the Senate for another hearing.
This is an important step to ensuring that the Philippines has Food Security for the benefit of every Filipino.
